PELCO® Foam Cryo Pitcher: Precision Pouring

The PELCO foam cryo pitcher is specifically engineered for precision nitrogen pouring. Unlike standard glass dewars which can be heavy and slippery, this 1000ml cryo pitcher features an easy-grip LN2 handle and a dedicated pour spout. It is the perfect tool for grid clipping LN2 transfer and topping off small reservoirs like the Vitrobot dewar without spillage.

The unit includes a bi-directional lid that can be rotated to cover the spout (reducing evaporation) or open it for pouring, making it a superior glass dewar alternative.

For general benchtop cryo cup applications, our foam cryo cup series (available in 500ml, 800ml, and 1400ml) provides a convenient protruding handle design for safe handling. We also offer specialty sizes like the mini cryo vessel 130ml for small samples and the tall cryo vessel 1800ml for longer immersion tasks.

2. Can I use the pitcher for the Vitrobot?

Yes, the PELCO foam cryo pitcher is the ideal tool for Vitrobot dewar filling. The spout allows for controlled pouring into the small annular gap of the Vitrobot coolant container without splashing.

3. Will the foam degrade over time?

No. These are made from a specialized cross-linked, closed-cell foam that is chemically inert and designed for repeated exposure to liquid nitrogen. It is a durable, long-term cost-effective cryogenic storage solution.

4. Does it come with a lid?

The Cryo Pitcher models (500ml and 1000ml) come with a specialized bi-directional lid. The Cryo Cups and Vessels typically come with a plug-style lid or cover depending on the specific model.

5. Is it safe to touch the outside?

Yes. The foam acts as an excellent insulator. While the inside is at -196°C, the outside remains safe to touch and relatively frost-free, unlike glass or metal dewars.
